Monet’s Garden

Acrylic on paper, 91” x 45”, 2005

Following a trip to Giverny in France, I saw the lush gardens of Monet’s private garden, a place of much inspiration for his work. I thought about the cellular forms I have developed as my own visual language, and wanted to modify that shape slightly into something that resembled leaves. In an overall verdant work while maintaining elements of science, the sweeping green arcs have the essence of climbing ivy.
